This Letter of Reference Template sets out the basic matters that should be included in any Letter of Reference given to an employee who has resigned or whose employment has been terminated for reasons other than for misconduct.
Every employee is entitled to a Letter of Reference setting out the basic details of the employee's employment, this is so they can backup information which they have included in a resume or portfolio.
Although a Letter of Reference is no required by law, LawLive recommends using it a matter of good business practice. A copy of this Letter of Reference should be kept on the employee's file as well as in your general employment records.
